Octreotide Acetate

Overview

Octreotide Acetate is a synthetic octapeptide that mimics natural somatostatin pharmacologically, inhibiting the secretion of several hormones. It is primarily used in the treatment of acromegaly and severe cases of diarrhea associated with metastatic carcinoid tumors and vasoactive intestinal peptide tumors.
