Corrections and editorial standards
If a record on PharmaTek is wrong, out of date or attached to the wrong organisation, tell us. We acknowledge every report within two business days, correct confirmed errors at the source of the template or data so every affected page changes together, and log material corrections below.
Report an error
Email info@pharmatek.co.uk with the page URL, what is wrong and, if you have it, the source document that shows the correct record. Suppliers correcting their own profile should write from a company email address. Suppliers can add capability information, but regulatory records change only when the source register changes.

- 23 October 2026 · Geography, CEP, single-source and patent-cliff reports
Report wording reconciled with what each report measures
Was: The geography report was titled “Where the World's APIs Are Actually Made”, described FDA-registered sites as capacity, still described the earlier name-based GMP matching as about one in five, and called three-year-window certificates “unexpired”. The CEP report framed all certificates as API (monograph) certificates. The single-source report called one documented source “a floor on concentration”. The patent report described filing counts as supplier readiness and launch conditions.
Now: The geography report counts FDA-registered API sites, not capacity, and states the address match (586 of 2,412, about one in four) and the three-year review window. The CEP report gives the certificate types (6,997 Chemical, 435 TSE, 88 Chemical and TSE, 64 Herbal of 7,584 valid) and its dataset splits them; China and India's positions hold for Chemical certificates alone. The single-source report says coverage can err both ways and that the counts are documented sources, not market concentration. The patent report compares patent dates with documented sources only. Headline figures are unchanged. A release checklist is now published.
- 23 October 2026 · API profiles, A–Z lists and the concentration and patent datasets
One organisation counted once on every page and in every release
Was: Some API profiles counted one organisation twice when its DMF and CEP records spelled the name differently (“EXCELLA GMBH AND CO KG” and “EXCELLA GMBH & CO. KG”), or when an inactive DMF under one spelling was promoted to current by a CEP held under another (zopiclone listed “Farmak, A.s.” and “FARMAK AS”). 13 profiles showed one more organisation than the A–Z list and the dataset (for example methotrexate 10, zopiclone 8). The patent dataset had been counted before the 23 October link repair. Dataset files were replaced under the same dated name when corrected.
Now: The profile, the A–Z lists, the homepage and both datasets use one calculation, with regression tests: name variants of one legal entity merge (and are shown as “also filed as”), parent and sister companies stay separate, and a CEP counts only when its latest revision is valid. The profiles now match the dataset (methotrexate 9, zopiclone 7); the patent dataset changes for brivaracetam (24 to 23) and drospirenone (13 to 12), and its headline figures are unchanged. Every dataset now has numbered revisions with SHA-256 hashes; the overwritten files are restored as earlier revisions.
- 23 October 2026 · Site GMP matches, country dashboards and the API manufacturing geography report
GMP documents now matched to sites by address: counts changed
Was: GMP certificates were matched to FDA-registered sites mainly by site name. The August 2026 geography report matched 486 of 2,385 API sites (about 1 in 5) to a current EU or UK GMP certificate, and the first 23 October release of the manufacturing-sites dataset counted 90 published Indian sites with an unexpired EU/UK GMP certificate. Country pages rebuilt while the repair was running that day showed other interim figures (82 for India at one point).
Now: A GMP document counts for a site only when its address names the site's street and its city or postcode. The repair removed matches to other sites of the same company and added address matches that names had missed: the 23 October edition matches 586 of 2,412 API sites (about 1 in 4), and India now has 186 on both the dataset (re-released the same day) and its country page. A fresh review found 59 of 60 such matches correct (at least 92% at 95% confidence).
- 23 October 2026 · CEP holders on substance pages, and three reports
Superseded CEP holders no longer counted; reports re-issued
Was: A transferred or renewed CEP keeps its number, and an older revision can stay marked valid. A previous holder could keep its CEP flag (Zhejiang Supor on rivaroxaban after CEP 2021-050 moved to Zhejiang Syncotide), and a historical DMF holder whose name begins a CEP holder's name was promoted to current (Kopran Ltd on pregabalin, from Kopran Research Laboratories Ltd).
Now: CEP flags follow the latest revision of each certificate, and a CEP holder must be the same legal entity as the supplier. The CEP geography, API manufacturing geography and DMF enforcement reports were re-issued as 23 October 2026 editions on the repaired links.
- 23 October 2026 · CEP holders on company and substance pages
CEP holders linked to a group or place-name profile removed
Was: The CEP linker matched any leading part of the EDQM holder string, so 158 certificates sat on the wrong profile: a parent or group (Sinopharm Weiqida Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. on Sinopharm, Bayer Pharma AG on Bayer AG) or a profile named after a place (Shandong, Jiangsu, Chengdu). Our earlier sample of 60 CEP links had found one such error.
Now: A holder now links only to the exact legal entity named before its legal form. 158 links were removed, 772 exact links added and 33 supplier rows that rested only on a removed link deleted. A fresh sample of 60 CEP links was all correct; the single-source counts were re-run (unchanged at 610 of 2,295).
- 23 October 2026 · DMF holder links and the single-source report
Same-name companies in other countries unlinked; single-source counts re-run
Was: Reviewing one link per distinct DMF holder name found 5 of 41 linked to a same-name company in another country (for example Alpharma ApS on a US Alpharma profile, Biocon Sdn Bhd on Biocon Limited). The single-source report, recounted after the link repair, said 607 of 2,295 APIs had one current documented source.
Now: Those links were removed, and legal forms tied to one country (AG, KG, ApS, AB, Sdn Bhd) now only match a company based in that country. After the final re-link the report counts 610 of 2,295 (26.6%).
- 23 October 2026 · All company, site and substance pages
Stored cross-register links repaired and re-measured
Was: A review of 360 links found 79–97.5% pointing to the right legal entity or site, depending on the link type. Errors were mostly links to a parent, subsidiary or sister company (Aurobindo Pharma Ltd DMFs on a US subsidiary's profile) and GMP documents on another site of the same company.
Now: Every stored link was re-resolved under stricter rules and each change backed up. A fresh sample of 360 links found 58 to 60 of each 60 correct, depending on the link type. About 6,000 CEP certificates are now linked to their holder's company profile for the first time. Data imports use the same rules.
- 23 October 2026 · Reports: API patent cliff, DMF holders and enforcement, single-source risk
Report figures and wording brought into line with the evidence rules
Was: The patent-cliff report counted all suppliers on record, including inactive DMFs (pregabalin: “39 suppliers across 407 approved products”), said ingredients with no record had “no public API supply”, and called 63 of 90 “GMP-certified”. The DMF enforcement report called its 1-in-8 figure “a floor”. The single-source report still ended with “certified sources”.
Now: The patent-cliff report counts organisations with a current DMF or CEP (pregabalin: 42 across 197 Orange Book products; 19 of 92 with none on record, which does not mean none exist) and drops the GMP claim. The enforcement figure is described as an estimate that can be too high or too low, given measured link precision. “Certified” is removed.
- 23 October 2026 · API profiles, API hubs, single-source report
Valid CEP holders without a linked company now count as current organisations
Was: Organisations holding a valid CEP were counted as current only when the CEP was linked to a company profile. Holders shown in a page's own CEP table could be missing from its current count (ibuprofen: 10 current, with two valid CEP holders not among them).
Now: Every valid CEP holder counts as a current organisation unless it matches one already counted. Ibuprofen went from 10 to 12, and to 13 after the same-day link repair. The single-source report was recounted: 610 of 2,295 APIs (26.6%) have one current documented source, against 636 of 2,223 (28.6%) in the 22 October edition.
- 23 October 2026 · Report: FDA Warning Letters
Warning Letter report re-issued without trend claims; geography from the FDA record
Was: The July 2026 edition said Warning Letters “rebounded sharply in 2025, the most since 2016” and placed letters by company headquarters. Only letters attributable to a directory company are stored, and directory coverage grew, so year counts could not show an FDA trend.
Now: The 23 Oct 2026 edition counts 732 attributed letters, states that year counts are not a measure of FDA activity, and places each letter by the country in the FDA record. Rows and query are published.
- 23 October 2026 · Manufacturing sites, company profiles, API supplier rows
Cross-register links measured; site and company GMP links now need address and legal-entity agreement
Was: Records were linked to organisations and sites by normalised name alone. A review of 410 links found GMP documents attached to a different site of the same company (about 1 in 5 site links), and filings attached to a parent, subsidiary or sister company, for example a Swiss “AG” certificate on a US “Inc” profile.
Now: Pages count a GMP document as site evidence only when its address names the site's city or postcode, and as company evidence only when it names the same legal entity in the same country. Site pages name the FDA registrant rather than an “operator”. The measured precision of every link type is published. A corrected matcher for future imports and a repair of stored links are prepared and pending review.
- 23 October 2026 · API profiles (all)
Product patents no longer presented as ingredient patents
Was: API pages could answer “Is X off-patent?” with “Not yet” using the latest patent across all approved products containing X (for example, ibuprofen showed a 2032 date from a single product patent).
Now: Pages describe the latest patent listed for an approved product containing the ingredient, state that product, formulation and method-of-use patents do not by themselves protect the ingredient, and no longer give an off-patent verdict.
- 23 October 2026 · API profiles (all)
Current and historical supplier records separated
Was: Headline supplier counts included organisations whose DMFs were inactive, and the page title used a stored count that could differ from the visible list (ibuprofen: 29 in the title, 30 on the page, 9 active).
Now: Counts show organisations with a current record (active DMF or CEP). Inactive DMFs are listed separately as historical. One calculation drives the title, summary, tables and structured data, and every record is listed publicly.
- 23 October 2026 · API profiles (all)
GMP evidence labelled at the right level
Was: A supplier row could show “GMP on record” when the certificate belonged to the organisation, not necessarily the site making the substance.
Now: Rows say “Company GMP cert on record” and explain that the certificate is not matched to the site making the substance.
- 23 October 2026 · Report: single-source API risk
Recomputed with current records only; “certified” removed
Was: “1 in 3 APIs has only one certified source”: 2,910 APIs, 30% single source. The base counted inactive DMFs, and DMF holders were described as certified, although the FDA neither approves nor certifies DMFs.
Now: “Nearly 3 in 10 APIs have only one current documented source”: 2,223 APIs with a current DMF or CEP holder, 636 (28.6%) with exactly one, 982 (44.2%) with two or fewer.
- 23 October 2026 · Report: where APIs are made
Unmatched GMP certificates no longer read as uncertified
Was: “Only about 1 in 5 API sites also holds a current EU or UK GMP certificate” and “four in five have no matching certificate”.
Now: About 1 in 5 sites could be matched by name to a current EU or UK certificate; unmatched sites are described as unmatched, not uncertified.
- 23 October 2026 · Report: API patent cliff
Latest product patent no longer described as the date that gates entry
Was: “We use the latest expiry, which is the date that actually gates entry”; ingredients were described as coming off patent.
Now: The report describes the latest patent listed across approved products containing the ingredient, notes that such patents may cover formulations or uses, and is not a statement about freedom to operate.
Editorial standards
Evidence before claims
Every statement about a supplier, site or substance is templated from a dated source record. We do not infer capability, capacity, quality or availability, and we do not publish model-inferred relationships.
Absence is not a finding
“Not found in covered sources” never means “does not exist” or “non-compliant”. Missing evidence is labelled as missing.
Payment never buys evidence
Suppliers cannot pay to remove, soften or reorder regulatory records. Any paid or sponsored placement is labelled as such and kept out of evidence tables and Sourcing Desk recommendations.
Independent services
The Sourcing Desk and readiness reviews are paid by the buyer. We take no commission, referral fee or payment from the suppliers we assess.
Dated, reproducible research
Reports carry an edition date, base population and method, and link to a dataset page with the rows behind each chart. Revisions are logged below rather than silently overwritten.
