Overview

Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic progestin, a derivative of progesterone, used primarily for hormonal contraceptives and hormone replacement therapy. It is also used in the treatment of certain hormone-responsive cancers due to its ability to inhibit gonadotropin secretion.
