Overview
Sapropterin Dihydrochloride is a synthetic form of tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4), a cofactor necessary for phenylalanine hydroxylase and the hydroxylases involved in the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin. It is used in the treatment of hyperphenylalaninemia in patients with phenylketonuria (PKU).
