Riluzole

Overview

Riluzole is a drug that modulates glutamatergic neurotransmission and is primarily used in the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. It works by diminishing the release of glutamate, which is often associated with the neurodegenerative processes in ALS.
